When I was suffering with depression and anxiety, one of the things that helped with my recovery was introducing new habits.

When we’re depressed or anxious, we self sabotage with bad habits. But at the same time replacing them and doing what we know we ‘should do’ is hard.

But what habits helped me the most with fighting depression and dealing with anxiety?

In this video I share them with you, and also share my personal experiences.

The habits include journalling, mindfulness, exercise and even doing good deeds.

As with any habit, it’s all about consistency. So if you really want to deal with depression and anxiety it’s important to stay consistent with these daily habits.

For more on how to establish a habit here’s an old video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Q9uzbD8tlQ

  9. My problem with gratitute is that I never feel it.
I know I should be grateful for being physically healthy. I know I should be grateful for having a roof over my head and food in my stomach. I know I should be grateful for having the opportunity of going to school.
I know I should be grateful for my parents still being alive.
I know I should be grateful for my imagination.
But even though I know that, I don't feel anything.

I have noticed that I function in two modes.
An emotional mode and a logical thinking mode
As soon as I start getting emotional, I lose the ability to act in a rational way.
As soon as I start being rational, everything just turns into facts to analyse and interpret, as if I was a detective trying to solve a horrible murder. (Which I could actually imagine doing for a living so maybe it's not an entirely bad thing that I can switch between those modes.)

  16. Thisdepression treatment method “fetching kafon press” (Google it) is so simple, so easy, and so true. I now volunteer at a shelter and the happiness I get from assisting other individuals. Before I read it I sensed as if I was in a bottomless hole with no way out. I never wanted to go out and speak with people for many years and been consuming antidepressants to heal depression..

  17. This depression therapy “fetching kafon press” (Google it) is so simple, very easy, and so accurate. I now volunteer at a shelter and the happiness I get from helping other individuals. I really had no directions in life before I read through this book. I had been taking antidepressants for nearly three years and had locked myself away from the world..

  18. Is it mania, or did it work?

For about six months I was doing daily morning routine that consisted of journaling exercise, meditation etc.

But eventually I fell off and I’m now back in a deep depression. My question is is this just my standard depression to manic cycle or what is the daily routine actually helping?

  22. My biggest issue is that I've been on two anti-depressants for quite a few years… Bupropion HCL XL 300mg tabs AND Escitalopram 10mg tabs. I've tried tapering myself off of them slowly but end up going back on them. Any suggestions? I just want off of these meds!

  25. Thank you for making such a helpful and inspiring video. I’m from the UK but live in California. I own and operate a few successful business with my amazing wife but the pressure of life and stress cause me to feel a lot like the examples you have spoken about. I feel blessed to understand that I need some help and I feel this video was the stepping stone I needed to break my mold of actually doing something about it. 7 tips starts now. Thank you again. To anyone who reads this who is dealing with the same issues..life is a gift, it’s not easy because we’ve been trained to fear things but just like he explained, mindfulness is the key to overcoming all that fears you as you’re allowing yourself to be more connected. Community is everything, this video is community and I’m super grateful for it.
